Mmm, got the front drivers fender and the front drivers door done. Looks naked though. There was no paint fade either. smile

I heard that you can use Easy off oven cleaner, I assume they're painted on right?

I know I'm posting this kind of late (date wise) but I took off the pin stripes on my contour and they were a PITA. I know you guys will call me stupid or something similar, but I *CAREFULLY* used a razor blade and some rubbing alcohol mixed with water 50/50 and it took them off. A little rubbing compound took off any gunk that was left.

You can try that but be very very very careful.

Ouch, that sounds kinda risky. I used the heat gun and a credit card. The stripes came right off, then I hit it with some adhesive/wax/grease remover to remove any gunk. Rewax and enjoy the new look. smile

I guess a razor blade would work if you laid it flat enough. The cutting edge wouldn't be riding on the paint.

Yeah it was risky but it worked pretty well. I tried it also when I removed the door guards but I couldn't get it flat enough against the door. SO I just used an old AAA card. It worked but hurt like a mother. The car looks great now. I took off the badges and logo's also, but decided to put the front one back on. The front was just missing something, but it looks a lot better with a custom mesh grille.

I'm actually looking to add pinstripes....anyone have any experience in those kits where you simply buy a long 'sticker' and apply it?

Question:

Why would you want to ADD pinstripes? It seems like a waste of a great looking car. Thats just my oppinion. I don't know why ford put the pinstripes on in the first place. Unfortunately when I got my car, it had guards on the wheel wells and on the door edges. They turned yellow in the sun and just looked awful. Did anyone else have these on their contours? Or was mine just a fluke?
