If you are talking about the seals around the doors and windows and the like, you re SOL. It happens to all Ford cars. My 91. stang, my wifes ZX2, and my tour. Back to black does a decent job, but if you want it to look new, get new seals....

My 97' was getting pretty bad, so I just put some tire shine on it. No, it doesn't fix the problem, but it does protect it for a while.
97' 2.5L Contour SE -T-Red Midas exhaust (grr...), Sony CD player, K&N airfilter, Mobil One Synthetic Oil, removed intake resonator, modified MAF, in-fender CAI, painted grill, Platinum tipped NGK's. I am looking for SVT E0's or E1's, SVT Upper & Lower Intake, SVT Throttle Body, and SVT Exhaust. If you are selling, e-mail me! Ford4eva@hotmail.com

Ok, don't everyone gasp in shock all at once... I use armor-all on all the trim around my windows, as well as on the wiper cowl, and the side mirrors (they aren't painted) And I will add that it is a '97 and the window trim has never faded or looked bad. I apply it every so often when I detail the tour. Don't know how well it will work on already faded trim, but it's worth a try!

I detail cars on the side and I strongly second the Back to black, good stuff Hey JPett, you put armor all on the cowl and mirrors, what happens when it rains or you wash your car I'll tell you what happens, it gets all over your cars paint! Do yourself a favor and don't do that!

If its the black plastic, like around the mirrors or the wiper-cowl try peanut butter. Sounds way off the wall, I know I thought so to until as a last resort I tried it and it worked. I used it on the sail panels, so I was able to take them off and go to the kitchen sink to apply and rinse.
For my weatherstripping/ rubber, I use the Meguiars interior cleaner that comes in a bottle that you could mistake for Quick-Detailer.

Hey Eric why not use the Zaino equivelant :p J/K but I'll keep the peanut butter in mind, I'm game. Also what brand of peanut butter, I'm a JIF man myself, but is there any other kind of peanut butter

I bought some of that LVR stuff, that works pretty good, and doesn't leave the dash asll greasy loooking like Armor-All. Any non-cruncy kind will work, but hopefully that was obvious. But I've always preferred Peter Pan, I guess my Mom wasn't a choosy Mom, cause I don't think she ever chose JIF.

Hey Eric Black Magic makes a "low gloss" dashboard cleaner/conditioner that even smells good, check it out and let me know how you like it
