Well, that was the question:

How do I remove the headlamp assembly and change the lightbulbs on my 98 (built nov. 97) tique?

I was thinking about putting in the Cool Blue Sylvania's... all I really want are bulbs that are brighter at night so I can see better.

All help is appreciated.

Brian

You are going to look behind the headlight for 2 or 3 (don't know off hand) phillips head screws holding black plastic brackets. Once you got those out pull out the assembly. Make sure you get the tab (next to the brackets) when pulling. Also watch out for the grill assembly when pulling (might get caught). Pull out the turn signal harness (for extra movement/ also has tab) Then twist an pull the headlight harness. Remember not to touch the bulb on either the stock or replacement lights. Install in reverse order.

is the mystique mounting different?
because on my '98 SVTC there are two torx screws on top and one behind, all are vertical.

you have to pry one of the mounting tabs over a notch. (i broke one of mine).

then remove/install as LoCoZetecSE said.

BTW, if you want better lighting don't use cool blue or hyper whites. (see my post on hyperwhites in aesthetic forum)

do the 9005 mod as can be found via search.
also, sometimes the lights are not aimed all that well from the factory. mine had to be aimed up and out and are much better (but still "legal") laugh

best of luck-
eric

"your" is possessive, "you're" is the conjunction that is short for "you are", "there" is for "the dictionary is over THERE", "their" is the possessive one, and "they're" is a conjunction that is short for "they are". have a nice day

Thanks for the replies, everybody.

Alright, I'm gonna return the 'cool blues' to Canadian Tire.

I read the article posted by Oo.et.oO and it certainly shed some light on the subject wink

I guess I'll exchange them for some 9005's. But I need to know -- are the 9005 series higher wattage than the 9006 series?

I've read that I may have to trim some parts of the lightbulb assembly away in order to get the 9005s to fit properly.. this is true?
Will the bulbs still hold in place properly?

I don't want to damage anything, or void my warranty... I just want to see better!

Thanks all,

Brian
