There are only 4 types of speakers that will fit my contour (all Pioneer). Is this really true. I tried doing a search and it seems that people are using speakers besides Pioneers. Does this require and modification?
I have a Kenwood deck installed and a Sony amp in back turned all the way down for these stockers. Now, I just need some new speakers.

No. They are lying s.o.b.s! Or at least their website. Did you call them? Any 5x7-6x8 will work, IIRC. The 5x7/6x8 Boston Acoustics fit perfectly in my Contour... ...and they look darn good, too! Maybe I'll Zaino 'em. (That should placate the aesthetics forum police.)

You can get/make adapter plates so that you can drop any 5.25" or 6.5" speaker in your doors as well.

I think Crutchfield meant that they are the only ones that are closest to OEM(6x8 plate), not that they are the only ones that fit. I remember looking through their catalog a while back, and it said the Pioneer plates were a perfect fit or something for Fords and Mazdas. You could put a 15" in your door if you REALLY wanted to. You wouldn't need screws, just stick the magnet to the metal of the door!
