Everyday, I see hundreds of little Hondas with the frost-out lenses. I've even seen a few Mustangs, but I want to know if there is a company that makes frost-outs for the Contour. That might sound rather assanine, but I want something a little more spiffy than that giant red reflector across the trunk.

I know your new to CEG but so am I. These guys dont appreciate the same topics being posted without searching for an answer first. This topic is so old. I think the majority have decided that those clear tailights are to ricey and are outdated. But maybe thats my opinion. You'll hear from everyone pretty soon. Dont Worry :rolleyes:

What A very very sad state where a newbie tells how us regulars are to another newbie. hahahaah. Well Not all of us get pissed if you dont use the search button. in fact sure it migh be handy, but I never use it of course I have been here long enough so I really dont need to use it. There are clear corners getting made for our back of the cars. Well I should say clear but altezza tails (I think that is what they are called.) one of the contour guys here is making them. they should be availble soon. Also if you have a pre 98 contour you could get the mondeo clear corners for you front. I dont know where or how much but I know 1 or 2 have done it. Hope this helps and welcome to the CEG!

First off...Welcome to the CEG...this will be your most imformative website for the Contour. I check this board every hour just to see what's going on. Second, the other guys are right. Watch out with the search thing. I have seen some viscious flamings going on. Thankfully I have never been part of one. ::knock on wood:: Lastly, I am from Maryville, TN. Be sure to check out the Tennessee forum because I think that we are trying to form a meet sometime. It would be good to see you there.

I recently read a website that pretty much showed that the altezza/clear tail lamp covers were not legal (with the exception of vehicles that have them OEM, since the OEM had to comply with and certify to Fed Motor Veh Safety Stand - FMVSS). I know I don't like driving around with something that gives cops the right to pull me over at all times.

I read that too...I figured out what makes them legal though. If you look at the car's profile, factory altezza lights extend around the side so there is some reflection of red. On most of the "clear corners" and altezza lights this piece is missing so there is no reflection. All that is present is the light. The only way to see this light is when the brakes are hit or when the lights are on. This relfective piece is in the light so that cars at a 90 degree angle from you can see your end. (going through an intersection). In looking at my friend's civic's and other cars that have this, I have seen only 1 car with the correct form of these lights (96 Mitsubishi Eclipse). Haven't heard of any citations for this though, so I don't know if officers are enforcing it.

Welcome to CEG, I got busted for the same question on tail lights a while back,(when i was a mere wisp of a lad.) 1. there was a topic on here, and i didnt use search, so i got a little heat for that. Then came the whole "rice" issue. Maybe its just me, but i think the rice cars have a lot of cool mods that the domestics dont. Also u go out to a drag strip on the weekends, and you see more rice than anything else. The tails may look rice, but thats only because they have more stuff out for the cars, and they have been doing it longer in this genre of mods. I'm sure my patriotic pals are gunna get on my back for this post but i'll deal with it.
BTW ( I would definately buy the clear tail for my 'stique, legal or not.)

I wouldn't worry the Altezza companys are making them legal with side reflector explained from above...I did some research from my Motorsport Business, they lose sells to common drivers but not SHOW cars..just to let u know :p
