How sensitive are these circuits? I want to know if you can get away with inserting a toggle switch inline with the tail lights, brake lights, plate light etc. to temporarily "deactivate" them at will. The reason I ask is because I've heard you are not supposed to use the old "test light" tool on these cars any more. The proper tools are probes, and multi meters. Can any manner of switch be safely employed here? Is resistance adversly effected? confused

You can do it and it will be fine.Basicly all you are doing is cutting the power to the bulbs, same as a fuse blowing or a bulb blowing,or even cutting off the headlamp switch.
But your right, dont use a test light on the computers or you might fry them.
