Just a few questions.
1. How long does an application last?
2. Should I bother with it being this close to winter since it's not stored in a garage and will most likely encounter a lot of road salt soon?
3. I am a novice at waxing and such, should I be able to successfully apply this?

Thanks A lot!

Well, I'm by no means an authority(perry, neil, john!)but from what I understand its very easy to apply/remove and lasts quite a long time. Considering that winter is coming is the PERFECT reason to put on two or three coats. Remember, its relatively cheap to just put some more wax...but putting some more paint on because it looks like crap is a whole 'nother story. Not too mentions a lot more expensive...preventive maintenance is the name of the game. wink

An good application should last up to 6 months, however once that first coat goes on you will find yourself applying more and more coats. Defiantly add two or three coats with winter coming up, it will make it easier to wash and help protect the paint.

Waxing isn't rocket science, 3 steps usually covers it, 1.cleaner for contaminents/fine scratches, 2. polish to bring out the shine and 3. #26 Hi-Tech yellow wax, opppps I mean wax to protect the paint cool To top this "easy process" is the cost, which is only $25.00 and can be bought at any auto parts store. I've been next to one these "Zaino" cars and looked for the difference and couldn't see it, even the owner of the Zaino car admitted the same! I did tell him that I've done my car about 2 dozen times this year but didn't do the "3 step process" everytime, I usually just use polish and wax. My car will be at SZ2002 and I challenge anyone to show me the "Zaino difference" because with the factory paint the car can only shine so much, so why pay the extra $$$$$ confused confused Don't take this is a flame, just a fact!

I think your questions have been answered, love. Even if you don't drive drive it and it's parked in a heated garage, put on at least one coat. I plane to drive my SVT when it's dry this summer, but it allways happens that an afternoon squal comes and it's out in the salt. My wife's 4x4 F-150 has Z this winter and I'm very glad it'll be protected as it gets driven in a lot of snow and salt. Makes it easier for the touchless car washes to rinse off. And it doesn't fit in my garage either.

Tips: Z is very easy when done right. There's so little muscle with thin coats. This is why many people, once they've done the initial several steps, love to throw more coats on. It's a matter of 15 minutes to put on, let it dry for a couple hours, then 15 minutes off.

Roger, I really don't care enough to compete as I don't have the time to apply 10 coats of Z2. Maybe Antonio Wright will attend SZ2002 as he's got some plenty of Zaino. I think everyone's glad you like your Meg's. But when I can put on 2 coats of Z2 now and wait until a warm February or March day to put on another, I can hibernate all winter and not freeze my ass off.

I'll be at SZ2002 with however many coats I can get on after the weather warms up, so lets see SZ2002 is the 1st week of May so that should be (1) 3 step and about 3-5 various polishes/waxes steps cool I've never asked this before but what exactly am I going to notice different with Zaino confused over my Mequiars? Is it shine, depth, color, what? I guess theres no way to really prove which one lasts longer since I wash my car about 3 times a week and wax/polish it alot too. This year I've done my car about 2 dozen times, I know I'm pathetic :p

On silver frost clearcoat metallic I think one might notice the a slightly different color due to the optically clear Z vs. Hi-Tech yellow wax. I won't say one is better than another, just might be slightly different color when looked at closely.

The other thing I've been told is that people notice the metallic sparkles more w/ Zaino for those that have switched. Must be the yellow wax hiding them all.

Those are the two things I would look for if I were @ SZ comparing rides.

These are excellent guides for applying Zaino:

http://www.zainobros.com/files/tips.htm

Now, if anyone questions the value of Zaino..I challenge them to a time trial. Compare the time it takes to treat a fender with Zaino to the time it takes to polish a fender (properly) with Mequiars. If the shine doesn't win you over the ease of use will.

What used to be a sweaty all day job is reduced to a laid back job that's completed in a couple of hours.

Before the usual discussion of Zaino vs. Meguiars starts, I'll add my $.02 to the initial question.

I would try to get as many coats as possible in before the snow and road salt begins to be seen. I agree with SQ, the more you get on, the better protection you will get from the elements. The polish kind of acts like the teflon coating on a frying pan, not allowing contaminents to stick to your paint.

now, on ot the usual discussion:

I'll park next to you at SZ Roger. smile

As of right now I am planning on making the road trip in May. I have 7 coats on right now, I need to do the Z-1 again for coat #8, then it won't get another coat till Spring. I will get a good wash in sometime in late February/ early March and then start adding to the shine.

Even better, save a coat to do at SZ and we'll see te immediate difference too!
