Hi,

Has anyone fitted a later speedo cluster to an earlier model with the cable-driven speedo? I have a Mondeo with the cable-driven speedo and I want to fit an SVT cluster. I could either try to convert the speedo to electronic since all Zetecs have the same speed sensor anyway (for the engine management) or somehow adapt the SVT speedo with the existing cable-driven speedo. Has anyone tried anything similar?

Another option is to simply remove the white face and needles from the SVT guages and fit them to my existing guages, but this gives the problems of trying to get the needles in the correct places etc. I won't need to reset the speedo since the Mondeo has 150MPH guages and the SVT has 160MPH so it's only about 7% difference.

Opinions?

PS Can anyone post an image of the SVT guages illuminated at night? I've seen loads of daytime pics but never a nighttime one smile

Thanks.

beyondloadedSE, thanks for the suggestion. I already have a white dial kit in my Mondeo but the needles look poor in comparison to original red needles. I removed the white from the back and painted the back of them red with needle paint but it's not as good at night frown

I'd also prefer to be able to do a dash transplant since the guages are always going to lose accuracy when you remove the needles and replace them even though I was very careful about that.

TheGreatOne, I don't think there are any digital speedos that will fit easily. I also think they look very 80s, reminds me of the old Astra GTE (don't know if that was sold in the US).

Paul.
