Has anybody just wired their sidmarkers to turn on half-bright only when the parking lights are on with no other function. Do I really need all them diodes and what not for this connection. I was thinking just to connect the ground to ground and the other wire to the parking light wire. Thanks, I don't want to start a fire.

Put a resistor in the power wire coming off the parking lights going to the sidemarker, then hook the ground wire to ground. The sidemarker will work at lower intensity just fine, and it won't start a fire. I don't have any sidemarkers on my car, but I do know enough about electricity to believe that it won't cause a problem.

Yes, the diodes are required. I don't have the wiring diagram in front of me right now, but from memory, without those diodes what will happen is whenever you have the turn signals on, both sides will end up blinking. The diodes are to prevent the current from the blinker circuit travelling down the parking light circuit and across to the other side.

If you were going to wire them to just turn on with the parking lights only, wouldn't it be wired to only the parking lights and the ground? So only the resistors would be needed. The current from the blinker wire would have no way of getting to the parking wire because there is no need to splice into the blinking wire.

I guess people are getting tired of even posting the search button comments now?

so anyway just wire it according to the diagram but don't make a splice to the blinker wire.
