I know a guy that paints interior pieces (plastic) and does a top notch job.

He does mostly Mustang stuff, but I think he'd be willing to paint our stuff as well.

Now, before you say, "I can do this myself with some Wal-Mart paint", let me say that that's not the way he does it.

He will sand the piss out of the pieces, do a couple coats of primer, and then paint the pieces just about any automotive color. Now, the color can be Toreador Red (exact match), Silver Frost, etc. etc. I've seen a couple pieces by him that were painted BMW Titanium Silver (same as on the new M3) and they look AWESOME.

He's not cheap, but he does a top notch job, and he does it right.

He supplies the parts, so you'll still have your stock ones if you don't like it anymore. Or I think he'll accept the ones you send in(to save some cost).

Actually found some info and pics...
http://www.geocities.com/albluegt/interior.htm

and
http://www.mustangpartsonline.com/custom_painted_interior_trim.htm

On mine, I'm thinking of painting some pieces really dark shiny blue, to match the midnight blue interior. Like the gauge pod and some other minor pieces.... Don't want it to stand out like silver would...

So, anybody that might be interested?

John

I might be interested. Could you find out how much it might cost me to get mine done in T-Red. (all 4 pieces surrounding door handles, headlight switch panel, big piece around my guages, piece around the radio & HVAC, ring around shift boot, and the piece around the passenger air vent) I would be sending them all of my original pieces.

Thanks!

I don't mean to put down this guy ut painting the interior parts is not that hard. I painted all my interior dash, cupholders, trim around the windows, handles, dome light cover, and some engine parts and there has been no chips or fading.
I used Duplicolor truck and van paint and Duplicolor clearcoat. I didn't even primer. I just washed all the parts with dishwash soap to get all the grease and dirt off. It cost only 15 dollars and a few hours. It was well worth the money.

The major benefits of what JVT is suggesting are;
1. Longevity, consider professional sanding and primer followed by paint(and clear coat I assume) Basically, the quality of your exterior paint with a fraction of the hazards.

2. Color matching, think how much better your car would look if you, say, painted the interior silver frost to match your ext. paint.

Especially considering the difficulty of matching silver frost with any store bought silver...I challenge someone to find one. I'm very interested in this as I'd like some color matched interior pieces. JVT, let us know if/when you do this. laugh

Or you could just buy some Ford Midnight Blue interior spray paint...

BTW, I painted my guage surround/vent panel Midnight Blue, and the lower radio surround panel simulated Aluminum (Testors' Metallizer series, which looks better than the dull stuff in new Audis). Looks good, happy with the results, etc.

Hey John ask him how much to paint my 96 grill silver. I tried it with primer and a spray can and it's just not holding up. A need a shop to do it with the good stuff.

u think he could paint the dash on a pre 98, cuz i know the air vents on the 95-97 would be tricky to what you plan to do. there not like the 98-00, where you can take them out and leave them black if you like.
