Our county has been on a water restriction for months now, so I have not been able to wash it at all! Just keep it in the garage and wait patiently... frown

I go to Water Works car wash myself. They do a wash and vac and are really good at doing it. It's brushless, cheap and very consistent and doing a great job.
I only go there because my apt complex doesn't have anywhere to wash my car. No hose hookup's or anything.

i try to wash mine w/ the bucket method every week. my SVT never saw the inside of an automated car wash while i had it - though i did have to use the quarter-operated ones for a while b/c of water restrictions at my apt. complex. even then, though, i took the bucket and only used their water for rinsing it off....

now that i've got a house (and now that i'm no longer served by the one reservoir in my area that gets low in prolonged droughts), i can wash the car whenever i want to - no chores from a wife to come first, no water restrictions, etc.

Hi there...that would be me. Washed it -once- myself, wife washed it one time too, hosed it down a few times and had a car wash run this spring. That's about it since the dealer cleaned it off when I bought it years ago. Interior is kept clean of course, and the wheels/tires need monthly cleaning also, but the Ford silver metallic sure beats the gloss black/white/candyapple red cars I had in terms of always looking clean. Washed/hosed once or twice a year, it always looks nice and shiny. Nothing beats this finish, IMHO. My black cars were obviously dirty on a weekly basis (even in storage!), although they did look better when washed/waxed it was a senseless hassle, mostly. I wash it just to keep salt and abrasives off...otherwise it always looks shiny. Added bonus is a clean silver sedan is the most nondescript car around...........

98 CSVT, basic mod's, my slowest car yet but still faster than the wife's Talon Tsi AWD. Not by much, though. Now if I could get the back wheels to do something....

OH god no! don't use those "quarter" car washes , or at least not to brush the paint. Those brushes are soooo dirty and leave swirl marks/scratches all over, or least roud here - the owners never clean the washes enough and when any dirty pick-up pulls up , well you might as well go home. :p

Wash it every week with bucket and soap, go over it with a damp rag and buff it with a dry rag every few days. Polish wheels, etc. every week as well. I would at least wipe it down everyday if I could (damn weather).

I don't exactly qualify.

We've got great self-serve cash washes all over Waco. The place I go to you put $4 worth of quarters in and are able to use high pressure rinse, high pressure wash, high pressure wax, tire cleaner, foaming brush, and spot-free rinse for an entire hour. That's what I call getting your money's worth. Then I dry my car, Black Magic my tires, and shine up my stainless steel exhaust.

Lazy car washer? My wife because she never does it. She used to, but I wouldn't let her go through any 'soft cloth' washes. No touch or hand wash only since she got her new truck over 3 years ago. Now, she just let's me do it which I cannot claim to be lazy about.
