Ask Sandman or any of the other officers that surf the board before you find out how expensive that mod is the hard way. I've no clue either way myself.

My brother got informed on that subject and they told him that anything that is not brake lights should not be red. On the other hand, I've seen the red step lights for pickups and they don't get in any trouble... Really confusing sometimes.

Anyway, that's what the cops told my brother when he had red spot lights under his car.

It's only wrong if you get caught...Hell, it's your car you can paint it hot pink with yellow neon lights all over it if you want (even though it would be severely homosexual). I say, if you can read the plate, than the cops can screw off!! Besides, they'll probably give you a fix it or pay the fine ticket, so you pop in some stock bulbs and drop in on the police station to show them it's "fixed" then put em' back....

That's my plan, Great One. In fact I have the original clears right in the glove box.

However, my plate is still entirely readable and illuminated, so even though it is illegal, it's a stupid law, as I'm causing no harm to anybody. Minnesota plates are dark blue so they look black at night anyway, so now it's actually black, so what?

I don't know about Canada, but license plates here are already in so many different colors and letters and designs, even within the same state.

I know one cop so far at least has looked the other way on this, as I drove right past him.

In Wisconsin, the law is more liberal where as long as it's white, red, or amber, it's legal (asked a Milwaukee cop). This is a sensible law.

Basically my opinion is as long as it's a color that's already there, and doesn't impede readbility or harm anyone, making a law controlling it is excessive government influence in our lives.
