Just wanted to point out something here. I'm sure other people have noticed this but it's something about my car that has always bothered me. In my car and in the red contour above the dash and steering wheel is a darker color than the door panels and the rest of the car in general. I'm looking at Kai's car and it's the same color for the dash and the side. I guess it just shows how the 98-up models were built crappier.

as PAC MAN said

Mine has the darker dash and steering wheel, I like Kai's better - all one color.

Actually its the window control pieces that get the most abuse. I have had no probs with the door handles other than it being a pain to take off without flaking the paint. The speakers grills would be difficult but can be done. You have to mist the paint on and have very light coats which may or may not come off easy when someone bumps it with their leg.

Actually, since I planned to paint the same parts to match exterior, I was considering that darker band just underneath the windowshield for the very reason you mentioned. I dunno how hard it would be to get off though. I'm still debating the whole issue, because mine is a 98+ with a fairly lame IMHO two tone styled seat.

Its a pain. That piece is screwed in from underneath. Do not try to pop it off or pull it off! You must remove the glove box to get to it. THere are 2 bolts/screws holding it in. Then there is a small hook at the top so just slide it towards you and then maneuver it out.

Looks great.

I've been thinking about checking the local "auto recycling centers" for some door trim pieces to do much the same thing.

I have the midnight blue interior (silver ext.), and am considering trying red, tan, or grey door pulls and switch plates. Probably grey.

Thanks for all the comments! smile

Speaking of the trim being all one color, I went to a salvage yard a couple days ago to get a new bezel (sp?). Not for this project, another one. Anyway, when I brought it back to my car, I noticed that it wasn't black, more of a greay/silver. I took it back inside, and they checked again, but only had three more grey ones. Is my car weird (if it is, I'm glad) or is it because I have the tan interior?

Oh, anyone have some arguments that will convince two parents to let me do this? They just love to remind me whose name the title is in . . . frown
