For example WRC rally cars have a system where they inject fuel to the exhaust manifold during shifts. Burning fuel keeps the turbo running at top speed when the throttle is lifted during shifting => max. boost pressure all the time => quicker throttle response. That simple is it.

It does look pretty bad-ass. When I race my Eclipse, I get it everytime I let off the gas after a hard run. Its from running rich then the extra gas that wasnt burned, explodes in the exhaust Unfortunately though, now my exhaust exits right under the passenger seat, shooting and ball of flame towards the gas tank!! lol

That's the point I was about to make. There is a technique that road racing teams employ to keep the engine revs high while going through turns. You can spot what KaaD said on any big time road race series like Grand Am / ALMS. Also, if you wanna creep over to the Supra forum, there was a pic posted of a Supra that was shooting 10 foot flames down the track... scary.

For the flame thing...if you have NOS, and you have it turned on, and have the clutch in (i guess neutral would work too on ATX)..rev the engine and it'll throw a little out. also, you can buy kits that put little spark plug type things inside your exhaust tip

OK, this is what one of my friends did. You put a spark plug in your exhaust pipe and wire it up with a converter that will convert 12 volt to a higher voltage that would make a nice spark on the spark plug just like it would normally in your engine. Run this power wire to a push button switch near your steering wheel. To get the extra fuel in the exhaust to spark, he unplugged his battery for 24 hours. When he plugged it back in, he drove his car like hell all day. The computer in his car then programmed itself to give it that much fuel 'cause it figured that is how it would always be driven. Now all he has to do is be giving it gas and tap that button switch to shoot a flame.
If this has already been explained by someone else or isn't the "technical" way to do this, don't get all up on me. He drives a Saturn and I'm just telling you how he got the effect to work. I know it's not the correct way, but it was easy.

Does anyone know if the spark plug in the exhaust would really work or not. Could it hurt anything or is it a legit method for getting this reaction to occur?

no this does work. the hard part is finding a places that has a converter. well atleast i have not yet found one. and i do knwo that they are not has cheap as most eletric parts are. i heard like 10-75 dollors. this would really suck. you need to get your voltage up to at least 50 i think. it would be nice if any one knew what voltage the spark plug in the car works at? then we would know a great voltage, and we would know that it sparks.

for about $150 there's a kit you can buy w/ a "special" spark plug supposedly just for this. it coems w/ all the wires and stuff you'd need to hook it up supposedly. i don't have it, or havn't even looked into it....just asked a guy about it at a local shop

Does anyone know where i can find that setup kit and also is it a necessity to unhook my battery and run my car like hell for a day while the computer learns the fuel amounts?
