I personally think Consumer Reports should stick to toasters and vacuum cleaners, and let those who know and appreciate cars like Car & Driver, Road & Track, etc. handle the automotive stuff.
wink

Good to hear he's ok, especially since he didn't have his belt on.

I can vouch for the safety of the car. My daughter was t-boned by 70 something Buick station wagon doing 35mph. My daughter didn't look left or right very well as she was pulling away from the intersection. She did walk away-totaled the GL. We got another one.

WOW... he is one lucky kid.

I know what its like to be a lucky kid too, because I rolled my first 'tour without a seatbelt and walked away with scratches from the air bag.

The Contour is an increadible car... and increadible and SAFE car.

Screw the crash ratings. When I flipped and totally my Contour SVT it saved life. That car has a very good structure to maintain itself after being rolled or flipped. If you would have seen my accident, you would not have believed that I walked away without a cut, scrape, bruise, or even any pain. Fortunately my Contour SVT got another lease on life when someone bought it and rebuilt it. Id trust my life in a roll to a Contour SVT anyday. :-)

Exactly, I did the same thing in my old 97 GL. Not a scratch on me.

Dang I hope someone in FoMoCo reads these posts! Preeetyy stupid for Ford to can a car with this much potential..... If they do read this, how's about you guys trying again...perhaps to introduce the new I4's......and updated 6's......hmmmmmmmmm as I recall at sometime, someone in Ford thought about killing the mustang *gasp*.

Or...change the body style of the focus to look an awful lot like a Contique...........hmmmmmmmm

Food for Thought

Installed XM Satellite Radio. Replaced bad alternator and 175a fusible link...much fun!
Intake plenum---GONE!!!!
