ok...clay bar didn't do crap for me...actually I was kinda irritated at it because it left residue all over my paint on the section where I used it. I cleaned it off with my Meguiars then washed that spot with dawn again. Then I put on Z-1, then Z-5...I let it dry for 2 hours tried buffing it off...some spots I think it looked ok and some spots it smeared. On the spots it didn't smear it looked like it had faint streaks in it. I ended up wiping it all off and i'm letting dry for a few more hours. I think I put it on too thick in spots...

Should I buff the surface?? Am I right, it smeared and streaked because it wasn't dry yet?? Looking for assistance here guys.

oh and should I spray on the Z-6 tonight??

What were the weather conditions like at the time of application? It sounds like it wasn't setup properly. If possible let it sit in the sun, that will bake it on. Their website says to run your finger across a spot and if it smears then it is not properly setup. If it comes off perferctly, no smudges then it is ready to remove.

The clay bar and Z-6 are the only 2 products that shouldn't be applied in the sun. If you have any Meguiar's Quick Detailer, I would use that, save the Z-6 for after you use the Z-2. If you have any questions, you can go straight to the source, wet@zainobros.com I dropped them a question last night at about midnight, and had a response form Sal himself by noon today! Now how many business owners would take the time to reply to e-mails on the Sunday! Great product and great customer service, what more could you possibly want from a company?

Hope you get everything working for you, with a black car, Zaino is the only way to go!

it was partly sunny at the time of application. I applied it in the garage and then pulled it out into the sun...well sometimes there was sun...to let it dry. The temps were in the low 50's and the air was kinda damp. I knew this would make it take longer to dry but it was wierd...the front was dry but the back was not. So I wiped the rest off because I was pretty sure I applied it a little too thick and then let it dry for 3 more hours. This time it came off pretty good, so I applied the Z-6...damn did it look good! Yeah it was dark but it still looked good. My wife and I then went to the movies...came home a few hours later and still no dust on the paint...I was stunned. I can't wait to apply some more coats, still I'm a little leary about screwing it up. I'm gonna try a lighter coat but how much is right...guess I'll be experimenting some more

thanks!!

I'm corry the clay bar didn't do anything, but you know that you now have the cleanest surface for the base. You defiantly want to wash off all the residue with either Dawn or Z7 before starting with Z1. Once that is done, don't worry about screwing up. It's really hard to, except for applying too thick a coat. I apply coats in the garage, then move car into the sun if possible. Rub your finger across the surface to tell when it's ready to take Z2/Z5 off. It will smear with your finger if not ready.

You might want to check out http://www.corvetteforum.com/cgi-bin/for...ne=5&LastLogin= for the real Zaino freaks.

2hrs in 50 degree weather wasn't long enough to dry, especially with Z1 under Z5.

That will take AT LEAST 4-5 hours for it to dry. Even a little humidity will seriously extend the drying time.
