Ok, thanks guys. It all makes sense. I'm using Turtle Car shampoo, its not bad but I want to get the Meguiar's car shampoo as I'm sure it's alot better. I'll just use my Meguiar's quick detailer then after each wash. I'm just VERY picky with my car. Especially being where I live (Las Vegas), It's always sunny so I like my car to shine like a brand new paint job every day laugh
My girlfriend gets SO pissed with me "you just washed it 4 days ago!" Thats what I always get. But, I love my Tour and I want it to last, machanicaly and cosmeticaly! wink

If you wax your car every couple months & use a quick detailer wax (spray-on wipe-off) each time you wash the car you should be fine . Most waxes you find out there at department stores are self-removing . They'll remove the previous wax (most of it) while you're putting the wax on . So using a type like that will not really hurt anything . I've been detailing cars both full time & on the side for better than 15 years , so I'm into the whole "car must be clean as heck" scene too . I think it's an illness , and MUST be elegible for a handicapped person plate so I can get the best parking spots at the mall & everywhere else !

BTW - I'm a big advocate of Zymöl wax . I use Zymöl #Z-503 wax . It's an all natural liquid with no abrasives or solvents . Plus it smells like a day at the beach ... well , sort of . It's not the same stuff as their cleaner wax that you'll see at Wal-Mart & such . That stuff has abrasives in it , much like most waxes . If you try it once , you'll be hooked .
I've used certain different waxes by Meguires , Mothers and others with varying results , so I'd give some different ones a try & see what YOU like . Your car is your baby (if you're like me) , so you've got to be happy while you're taking care of it .

Good luck !

like fastcar said you can never wax too much
and if you wait and wax every two months(personally i dont see that as adaquite), that is not as good as waxing every week. their is never "too much" when it comes to washing and waxing your car. the more you wax the more protection for your paint.
after you wash you should cleaner wax, then polish, then finish with a carnuba wax. if you do that every week it wont hurt the car it will only protect it more, i cant stress that enough

Done with one vehicle, and just started this weekend on the Silver SVT. I wasn't expecting much more on a siler finish, but am impressed so far with only one coat of Z5 swirl remover. I never thought you could mirror a light color until now. Amazing!

I wax the 'Tour SVT usually 1-2 every two weeks. Trust me when I say it only makes the paint glow even more than usual.
