I know this has been asked before and I can't find anything in the archives. Does anyone know how to make the sunroof one-touch open? I looked in the Haynes manual and the window one is just a relay. Would this work for the sunroof also? Just curious/eager to know.

Do we really have to do the rating system?

If you take the guts of a driver window switch and swap them into the sunroof switch, it will work. The thing that makes the drivers switch work like that is contained in the switch itself.

Come to think of it, This is something I can do. I can modify the switches for people. I will be working on this tonight

Well, I went out to the car a little while ago and popped off the switch cluster. There are three little switches inside the drivers window switch: Up, Down, Express Down.

The express down initiates a relay to hold power to the window until a certain resistance is seen. This resistance is caused by the window motor not being able to roll the window down any more.

One thing to keep in mind with the moonroof, there are three microswitches that are for the three posoitions. If the motor is made to go past this position, it can cause damage, especially in the full open position. You can experience this by holding the switch in the on position until it stops. Then hit the button again. It will go back another centimeter and make a bad noise. It's not supposed to go back like that. Those microswitches are after the push buttons so there isn't anything to worry about, but overriding them can mess things up.

I will figure out a wiring scheme for this. I will then post it here later. Are we wanting jsut express open? I can see problems with express close.

OK, I figured out how to get it to work.

This is based on how I THINK they moonroof works. If the switch reverses the polarity for the motor, then something else will need to be made. I'll find out for sure later.

Hey. Okay, I understand your diagram but the question I now have is: You said the driver's door switch. But that's too large to fit. Can we use the regular switch? What I mean is, can we do this without massacre-ing(sp?) the car to bits? Wouldn't it also involve the one-touch relay also? It is the relay that sends the signal to the motor, isn't it?
Sorry, I'm just a curious guy in some respects.

Jeff, don't worry about messing with the stuff in the drivers door panel. The diagram I made just involves the addition of two relays. NO and NC. It uses the existing moonroof switch.

Can anybody post the wiring diagram of the moonroof switch/motor? Then I can compare that with what I have made up.

Thanks.
