Took me a couple hours to get the damn things off

At first I pried them up with my fingers and used my thumbnails to scrape away the rubber adhesive inch by inch...after about an hour, I remembered someone here posting about using a blow dryer to help you out. So, I grabbed a blow dryer and used it to heat the stuff, being careful to not let it get too hot. This made it much easier, I could just roll the stuff along instead of scraping...I think I took my first layer of skin off my fingertips but it was worth it my polish took care of the leftover adhesive and the profile is so much smoother now! The car looks much classier without the stupid things.

I'm in the process of detailing...today I polished the paint and washed down/detailed the engine bay. Tomorrow I'm waxing and detailing the interior, and taking some metal polish to those big Bassani cans

It looks much cleaner doesnt it? I went through all my skin on like 4 fingers but I also have to agree it was well worth it, the best thing about it is no water gets caught on them when you wash your car now!

Hey!

I just did this mod last weekend too! Still recovering on three fingers. Well worth it though. I love the way the car looks...smooth.

SVTNATE - You should have used dental floss or fishing line. Neither will scratch the paint. I did mine in about 15 mins. Just a suggestion.

Well. I took them off today and Ford didn't clear coat under them on one side of my car! Pisses me off! I am going to try and put a couple layers of clear coat on this afternoon after I calm down.

Did you buy your car new? Sounds to me like maybe someone repainted the door. Did it look like someone painted over the molding and painted your whole door without removing the molding?

I think that a couple of people have found this to be the case on 99+ models. Seems as if they applied the clearcoat AFTER they put the strips on as opposed to doing it before hand.

I bought it used. The prior owner was a rental car company. I ran the vin number in carfax and no accidents came up. I think that Ford just did a half ass job.
