well, i suppose i'm uniquely qualified to comment on this thread.....i traded an SVT on an RSX-S. :p
i'll agree that a base automatic RSX will definitely be slow.....even the base manual is noticeably slower than the type S (though around town, they have similar torque figures down low, so you only notice it above, say, 30-40 mph). of course, just to play a little bit of the devil's advocate role here, it's really no different than someone w/ an ATX contour thinking their car is all fast and such. you want to be proud of what you own, and sometimes you're gonna get humbled by something you don't expect to be faster. that was definitely one thing i loved about my SVT....nobody expected anything out of it, and yet it definitely earned its respect.
also, regarding the "no torque" comment - go drive an RSX-S and get back to me. i'm not saying it's putting out mustang cobra levels of lb-ft, but it IS putting out considerably more than the traditional honda motor. it's not like the duratec is a torque monster itself, so i feel fairly confident in saying that i didn't really notice a difference one way or another in around-town driving when i stepped into the RSX-S from my SVT.
regardless, it is good to see at least some props on my 'other' home being given to the SVT. i hadn't even seen that thread - of course, i rarely read the 'newbie' forum or the 'rsx vs. all' forum - too much diarrhea of the mouth going on in there for me.
anyhoo.....i'll conclude by saying that both the RSX-S and the SVT rock.

and i'll avoid making any further comments about the base auto RSX just b/c i'd make the same comments about a zetec auto contour, and i'd get somebody's panties in a bunch..... :p
