I have a 98 GL which does not have the fog light installed. Mostly for the safety of driving and also for the appearance, I would like to add a pair of fog lights. PIAA 959 Ion Crystal Projector Fog looks good. As to the web site, the 'kit' includes Two lamps, wiring harness, relay, switch. Are they all I need for the GL installation? What about wires? How hard is the work? Please somebody experienced post a HOWTO. I guess a lot of people would appreciate it as I really do. Thanks!

BTW, the PIAA 959 costs around $250. Are there cheaper solution with reasonable quality?

The instructions from PIAA is pretty good. The kit should come with everything you'll need. All you need to do is figure a way to mount the foglights to the bumper, either with a custom bracket or drill straight onto the bumper itself. Should take a good 2 hours to install.

For the 'up right' and 'hang down' of PIAA fog lights, which one to choose?

I'm not familiar with the 959's, but my 1400's are mounted upright.. They came with an adhesive tape that holds them in there pretty well.

I'd say the hardest part of the install is finding the parking light wire and tapping into that to control the relay for the fogs.. Parking lights come on, fog lights come on.

I've noticed pictures or your car with the 1400's. I didn't know if they were PIAA's or rip off's until now. I have a pair of them as well from a previous car. My lamps are 4 years old I think, the first year out. But I loved them on that car and wanted to use them on a current vehicle. Choices? 1999 F-150 4x4, 2000 Contour SVT, 1985 RX-7. I just didn't want to drill holes in my new car so they sit on a shelf in the garage. But they are very bright and I imagine would seriously help the stock lights which are similar to the previous car headlights - terrible.

Maybe on a warm February day I'll install them on a car. Just gotta use silicon seal!

So there is a point of posting a HOWTO for our beginner levels. Please, it's not a shame to work out a step by step straight forward instruction that we can follow! Thanks a lot!

I've made many HowTo(s) but not for this. If you want some step by steps, email me and I'll help you out. FWIW, I believe anyone doing this, even if you have the OE fogs and want to change them or want them to be brighter, will benefit highly by adding an aftermarket relay. I gained at least 1v at the bulbs when I added my relay. But I digress. I'm a powa crazy foooooo!

Well, I installed mine close to three years ago now, and can't remember what color the wire was. Matter of fact, I didn't tap into the stock wire. I looked at my alarm brain and noticed that it had a wire coming off of it labeled "PARK" or something and figured that was tapped into the stock parking light wire and just tapped into that. Luckily, it worked out.

As far as the adhesive, it worked for me, but we don't get too much snow down here in Georgia. I wanted to hard mount them in the bumper opening, but couldn't figure out a way to get a drill in there so I just used the adhesive. No troubles. After an accident where the bumper was repainted, I used "Household Goop" to put the fog lights back on.. Strong as heck, those things aren't going anywhere.
