tranny cocktail uses a synthetic ATF and friction modifier.
For the ATF, you can use Ford's synthetic ATF at around $18 a quart, or you can get an aftermarket synthetic AFT, like Mobil1 for about $5 or $6 a quart.
You will need to purchase 3 quarts.
The friction modifier is available at any Ford dealer and they should have it in stock. Just tell them you want a 4 ounce bottle of friction modifier. They should know what you are talking about. Modifier is about $6.
You use only 2 ounces of modifier when doing the cocktail.
The fill plug on the transmission is on the front of the gearbox. If you stick your head under the driver's side of the front bumper and look up at the transmission you'll see it. Its about 1/2 inch wide and uses, I think, an 8mm allen key.
The drain plug is on the rear of the gear box, and looks the same and uses the same tool as the fill plug. It is located near the drive axle to the passenger side wheel. If you have a V6, there will be an oxygen sensor wire and connector in the way. The wire is fastened to a web on the transmission with a barbed metal clip that is easily removed by carefully poping it off with a screwdriver or similar tool, and is installed when you are through by tapping it with the handle of a screwdriver.
When filling the transmission, just keep adding oil until it comes out of the fill hole.
You'll notice a difference in ease of shifting immediately.
