Ooop, that's not going to work.
If all you did was to replace the covers with clear ones, your lighting would get worse. Not to mention being illegal.
The "lines" on the headlight cover are there to control the beam pattern. If they were clear, the reflector would have to be shaped to control the beam pattern. Take a look at the headlights on a '98, you'll see the reflector is shaped to do this, that's what gives it the "jeweled" look.
If you could get a set of E-code headlights like the ones pictured in the post above from a country with left-hand drive cars, that might be the ticket. But it would be expe$ive, I'm sure.
A better bet is to use some of the tricks other Contour owners have used, such as higher wattage headlamp bulbs or using high beam bulbs in the low beam sockets (you have to modify the base of the bulb to get it to fit).

, but yeah there really isnt much 95-97 can get though, i had the bluish tint lights in and they didnt seem to make a diference, just a tad white, not much. Anyone with a 97 with black outs on either the back or the front?
