I'm thinking of removing the cupling from over the low beam bulb in my 98.5 SVT. Anyone out there done this? or have any ideas as to what they may do or problems this may cause?

Can't recommend it! That cover is what takes all the light from the bulb and directs it to the parabolic reflector at the back of the bulb to properly direct the light. Takin out the "cap" will cause the light to be spread all over the place and you will lose intensity and density. Plus, I think you have to crack open the housings to get it out. At your own risk.

I'm sure I'll have to open them up.. but as for reflecting... I'm going off the high beam concept... which has no cover..

The 'cover' as you call it acts to block any light other than reflected light so the beam is straight out from the headlamp. This makes for better lighting in poor weather conditions, exactly like a fog light. The high beam doesn't have one cause all you want them to do is shine as far and brightly as possible. You don't use highs in bad weather now do you? Removing the cover will actually give you brighter lighting in clear weather, but more dispersion in fog and rain. The choice is yours.
