Going to Radio Shack, but first,what is the difference between 1 x 30 Ohm /20 Watt (Louis W.)and 2 x 10 Ohm /10 Watt (Blake N.) resistors?
Thanks,
Mark

If you hook two 10-ohm resistors in series, you get a total resistance of 20-ohms. This means that the sidemarkers are going to be a little bit brighter than if you used a 30-ohm resistor. ------------------ Louis Wang Austin/Sugar Land, TX 1998 Black E0 #3826 http://web.wtez.net/tw57472

So I hit Radio Shack on my way home and had no problem with the resistors (P/N 271-132, $.99), but I had 3 rectifiers to choose from; all are 3 amp, but have 50PIV, 200PIV, 400PIV. What is PIV, and which should I use for this mod?
Thanks,
Mark

PIV = peak inverse voltage. Basically the maximum voltage the diode can 'block' before it breaks down. Since our cars are 12V systems, 50V is more than enough. ------------------ Louis Wang Austin/Sugar Land, TX 1998 Black E0 #3826 http://web.wtez.net/tw57472

just installed by a6 marker lights and they look great. i did not have to break off the tab on the lens housing as stated in the how to section. i cut the hole the same as the hole in the fender of a a6 and no two way tape was needed. i would like the bulb to be a bit brighter when on with the park lights. can anyone help me with the proper resistor required?

If you want it brighter try a smaller value resistor. The wiring diagram shows a 20 ohm resistor. They are a couple cents each, so it should cost too much to find something you like. ------------------ Louis Wang Austin/Sugar Land, TX 1998 Black E0 #3826 Monster Flow, ASP pulley, hi-flow resonator A6 side markers, shift light, SRP pedals, SVT TachGlow and more!!

Huge thanks to jjh for posting Blake Nelson's diagram, and to Louis Wang for the electrical education! I finished the side marker project and it looks awesome! I used Mondeo lights from BAT. My car is silver, and the contrast really pops with the amber lights. I failed to get the digital camera from work for in progress pics, but i'll take some finished and post. I bought small 'project boxes' from Radio Shack to house the resistors and diodes - very clean looking..........
