Everyone always recommends the Audi or Mondero side markers, but what about the VW Beetle side markers? I really like those a lot better than the Mondero's. Does anyone know if those would convert easily to my Contour?

Not sure on this at all but I think the beetle sidemarkers are the same as the Audi A6 markers. My friend has a beetle and when I see him I will compare them with my A6's. But they do pretty much look the same.

They aren't exactly the same. The inside of the Audi's are smooth, while the Beetle does like a sloped triangle pattern. Either way, I want to know if the installation will be about the same.

The lights are resistive devices, the electricals will be the same. VW and Audi share a lot of parts, I wouldn't be surprised if the only difference was the reflector.

I check the VW side markers and they are a lot toughter to install than the Audi's one because with the A6 you just drill a hole in your fender and slightly modified the side marker and voila. With the VW you have to cut a hole about 2.5" by 1" and you have a lip of less than 1/8" so no place for error when cutting your fender.
If you are very good or have a friend who work in a body shop go for it,if not take a look at it in your hand and you'll see.

the UK spec cars have quite a long side repeater (exactly the same as the US spec cougar)i dont know if its a big job to fit these (probably is), you can always go for the LED repeater kit, visit http://www.nomadracing.co.uk/nomad.html and scroll down the pics till you come across the m3 mirrors. (sorry its not a mondeo but it gives you a general idea) cheers nomad

I had the A6 sidemarkers installed on my silver SVT, I chose the A6 markers because they blend in with the car since there clear w/ amber bulb inside, If I had a colored SVT I would have gone with the Passats orange side markers, not sure what year VW, just my two cents worth.
