I have a 97 with aluminum rims. I have tried everything left and right for getting brake dust off. I used eagle wheel spray and hose, also ammorall spray and hose too. Both leave my rims looking streaky or hazey? If you can follow what I mean. White haze's that look like water that ran?

After I do spray these cleaners on I go to work on the rim with a sponge or brush seeing how none of them get all of the gunk off the rim!!

What types of wheel cleaners do any of you guys use?? I even tried simple green and it too left them hazey as well?

They seem to be clear coated so to get the haze off I use windex and it works like magic. The only bad thing about the windex on coated rims is when the "NEW" brake dust sticks to the rim it sticks around where you wiped!! like a magnet. SO you can see your wipe marks if you mised anywhere!!!

Any aluminum rim ideas would be appreiated guys!!

Thanks

I take it that the rims aren't clear coated or the clear has come off, that being said try some Never Dull. It comes in a silver can and has pre-moistened material that you just rip off and wipe on your rims or metal surfaces. You'll notice it start to turn black but that ok, its working. Let me know how that works for you. Another little hint for you, after your done with the Never Dull spray glass cleaner on them and wipe off, it seems to "bring out" more shine wink

I've always been happy with Meguar's Hot Wheels stuff. Gets brake dust off very well, and leaves my rims really shiney. But I still have some clear coat on my wheels wink

Last time I used a wheel cleaner it oxidized my rotors and lugs. So I don't. Now I use hot soapy water and a brush....safety first

to my surprise the stuff i found that really cleaned my wheels up (first time in a yr they were clean) was the armorall cleaning wipes....purely outta boredom i wiped one wheel after a car wash and all the brake dust came off....i thought the wheels were permanently stained but it came off fairly easily

Thanks guys..

The wheels do have clearcoat on them! I wish I could remove it but I don't know how???

And as for the "green" stuff I use it as it works well but it leaves the wheel hazey.... I want to be able to wash the car without spending 20 minutes on the wheels.....

i will try HOT water and a tooth brush.....

Thanks again

Clean wheel, apply Zaino, rinse off every other time.

No wheel cleaner near my wheels. Bleh.
