I went to a combined graduation party for a group of my friends. One was depressed and drinking. At around 1:30 or so, he was ready to leave, so being the good friend, I drove him home. I had failed to remember that it had rained all day and the roads were very slick. Driving down his street, we passed over a speed bump, and I accelerated to apex around a left hand turn, approximatley 30 mph, and felt the car to start to understeer towards a house, I braked quickly and the rear of the car slid around and caused us to slide sideways. We slid into a large coquina rock on the edge of someone's property.
I backed out and drove down to his house to assess the damage. The front passenger side tire was slowly leaking air, and the rear (near the back of the rear door) was crunched. I changed the tire and inspected as best I could in the poor lighting whether or not it was driveable. I drove back to the party so I could look at it closer with a flash light.
All damage is purely cosmetic and rather minor. All of the fuel lines and brake lines were 100% intact with only a small dent in the fuel filter, which also is 100% sealed. The frame is not damaged, only the undersill (I guess that's what it's called, below the doors where sideskirts are mounted) and the bottom of the rear door is damaged. The rear door opens and shuts perfectly, and the car drives straight as the day I bought it.
I can fix it all myself with a hammer, bond-o, and a lot of time.
I drove by the house and shined my lights on the rock. It was sitting on the dividing edge of two houses' property, and there was no noticeable damage to their grass or lawn
I guess I can only thank God that everyone is alright, and there is no crucial damage to my car.
It's kinda funny I guess. Everytime I leave the house, my parents tell me "Be Careful". The one time I failed to adhere to that, and I get this.
Oh Well.. time to go to bed, just had to tell about it.
