Hello,

I was wondering if I can get rid of the lame-not-so-bright Ford green dashboard/inst. cluster lights and replace them with red or blue bulbs. I think they would look a lot better and not so Christmas-like with the red/green contrast.

Anyone done this before?
If so, where can I get the bulbs...
and how go i disassemble the dash without ruining it?

Any help is always appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt

I dont think you will find these type of bulbs in different colors,They are very od bulbs,I had to buy a replacement bulb for the dash and from the dealer they were $3 apiece (very small bulbs).your best bet would be to just color the stock ones.
Go to a Hobbie shop and get some "STAINED GLASS COLOR" its a little bottle of colored "stuff" that you dip your bulbs in and when it dries looks like stained glass, and it can be removed with Nail polish remover if you dont like it.I havent seen this stuff for a while so good luck finding it.
Another optoin would be to get some "GAllery Glass"(at a hobbie shop also),this is a tube of Colored glue looking stuff, you brush it on and it real murkey, but when it dries its see through in your color,Like stained glass.Only draw back is that it doesnt go on very even, but it just peels of if you dont like it.
Good luck and tell me what you do,ive been wanting to do this for a while.
Hey you could try the colored permanent marker thingy I did(blue).See the post in the Mods- General forum.

It's at any craft store. I took my floor well bulbs and overhead bulb and did them green to match the dash and door handle lights. Looks cool.

Hey Daniel, any pics of your car at night from the inside? That sounds pretty interesting, does it still provide enough light at night?

I'm working on getting some pics. It was kind of weird at first. My friends made jokes like OHHHh we're in a spaceship LOL. I think it provides plenty of light. I'll let ya know when I get the pics up. I also wanted to put the Audi lights on the side of my tour, but I didn't want to drill holes, so I just got 2 Contour badges like is on the trunk lid and placed them on the sides. I've had more compliments on that than anything else LOL I guess the cheap mods impress. See ya

It's not the bulbs that are green! it's the plastic..boo hooo I had to take this shock when I first got my contour, so I am learning to luv them...Check the new Jaguar S- Type dash..you will feel better. I did.
