I've used the for sales section of this forum to place my car for sale but no results thus far. I really, really, want to sell my '99 Mystique LS, loaded and in perfect condition. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it except that I wish to purchase another car. I am located in east Texas. Anyone got any good ideas?

Autotrader.com? The local newspaper? I eventually sold my SVT using the CEG classifieds, though it did take awhile. I think the newspaper would be your best bet, honestly.

I eventually sold my 97 GL to CarMax. They give you KBB trade-in for it. The amount was low, but I think I got the better deal.

Even though it is a couple of hours, you might look at the Dallas ads as a possibility. More apt to get responses there than the smaller areas in East Texas (and yes I actually know where Palestine is and have been in towns smaller than it wink )

The Classifieds here are going to draw from a limited base. I had an ad in the autotrader.com site when I was selling my 5.0LX sdn, and had inquiries from well outside the Austin metro area.

Just out of curiosity, is it the 5-spd that you have? The 'every option' phrase would almost have me believe the box for automagic was checked.

Well, "sell" it to the dealer on trade for that LS 400. wink

You'll probably have to fight to get 8K on trade, though. frown

I have every option except for traction control. The reason I do not wish to trade it in is because this clouds the true costs of doing business. I've bought nearly 50 cars in my lifetime and the trade-in process is almost always a gyp and unless you do a straight cash deal you won't really know what you paid for the car unless you are personal friends with the dealer and he is honest enough to tell you the truth. If you trade it in to a regular dealer you are paying their overhead, salaries and those fancy showrooms, etc. There are numerous LS 400s for sale on ebay and some very, very, very good deals. Virtually none of these resellers (low overhead) will not take trade-ins,nor should I expect them to. I can't afford to be stuck with three vehicles. Then the pressure would be on to dump the Mystique for a fraction of its true value just to be rid of it; not to mention the additional insurance cost, etc. I'll be reasonable and will negotiate with anyone who tenders an offer that is genuine. However, I won't give it away. It is too good a car for that and I have pampered it and it has no defects of any kind.
