I was flipping threw the channels this afternoon and happened to catch this segment. This guy has a 57 Thunderbird I think and a new jaguar convertible .. So he has his CONTOUR.. appears to be an SE ... warms up with a quick 360 on the street then accelrates to 70mph locks up the brakes approaching the 2 parked cars from the side. his nose twoards their drivers sides jerks the wheel and spins into the spot perfectly spaced between the two parked cars. Awsome move and awsome to see him using the Contour.
You've Got to See it to Believe it on The Learning Channel.. Im not sure when it wil be on again about ita was about 10 to 15 min into the show. Hope someone can find it!
Hopefully some non owners will see that and stop doubting this cars awsome handling... maybe realize how fun our cars!!

I saw that show too but figured someone would have already made a long post about it.
The driver was Bobby Ore. His racing school taught the drivers from "Gone in 60 Seconds" and uses unmodified Fords for the test.
The car in the commercial was a 1999 V6 SE, MTX. Did you notice the white wall tyres though? Looks like so cheapy brand that probably has crappy traction.

Yeah, I think Bob Bondurant uses Fords at his school, too. I know he uses SVTours extensively. ZX2s are popular trainers also. GO FORD GO! (Hey, I hated Fords until they released the post-98 Contours... I still quietly dislike them )
1998 Contour Sport V6, Black *Cold air induction *Powdercoated intake manifold (more powdercoating coming soon) *Blue headlights, foggies, and signals (no reflectors) *CEG stickers & removed door moldings -------------------------------- 1994 Ford Aspire 4-door, looks like a big egg *64 hp 4-cyl *5 speed *"13 steel rims with go-cart tires *74 mph top speed *I'm going to auto-x the thing (but not compete)

They also have a fleet of single seat formula Fords for school use. When I was there they still had a single taurus still in use as a skid car, but the rest of the skid cars were mustang GTs. Never saw a single Escort in Bondurant trim.
It's all about balance.

There was a video in the Pics and Vids forum a while ago that showed a guy in a Porsche doing -exactly- what you described. It was incredible, since he had about 3 in. on each side (margin of error) to get into the spot.

It comes up on TLC pretty often I think. I had seen it a long time ago, recently my wife found it on again and recorded it to the TIVO where it will stay for a while. I think I've watched it over again four more times already since I've had it. The tires definitely looked crappy. -CtrAltDel
