AWSF32PP or AWSF22PP (step colder) Motorcraft Double Plat, depending on how cold you want to go. Since you have the 3L heads, I'd say go with the 32, which are the stock plug for the 2.5L and 3.0L Duratec (except 2000 SVT). Dunno the Autolite number, but they are the same plugs.

I have NGK TR6 in mine, b/c the 22s don't seem to be cold enough. Unfortunately, I'll probably be replaceing them every 15,000 miles, since they aren't double platinum. frown But that's on a hybrid (11:1 compression).

I've heard enough people report problems with them that I would stay away. Some people have been fine with them, but why take the chance?

I had Bosch in for 2 weeks. Felt a noticeable performance drop off after a week. Look at them. The central electrode is a thin wire. Went to NGKs. Thing is...the NGKs protruded about 1/8" further into the chamber? Weird...and yes..the car runs great now! Got NGK Plats from NAPA for $2.99 each

For quality plugs; Yes.

For the Duratec; No.

NGK does not make a double platinum plug so is left off the list.

Stick with the Autolite APP764 or Motorcraft AWSF32PP. The AWSF22FS can be used when a colder plug is desired (I.E. chip or 00 SVT or both)

Hey Demon, I searched for the part #AWSF22FS on fordpartsonline. It came up w/ a plug for the Ford 5.4 Liter... click
Is this the plug you're using? and it's working well?

I was using the AWSF22 in my car. I took them out after I "modified" them with some little bits of aluminum (not plug related) to put the colder NGK plugs in. I'm not real comfortable with a plug that's not double plat, so the NGK are only a stop gap. Now that I know it wasn't the plugs' fault, I'll replace them with the 22s soon.

The link didn't work for me, but I bet the 5.4L app the 22s are in is one with a blower. wink Cold plugs are used when compression is increased or boosted engines (anything that increases cylinder temperatures). The increase in the 2000 SVTs compression warants the use of the 22. Supposed to be stock, but many people have reported 32s from the factory on 00 SVTs. Easy to see the mistake, since the non-SVT Duratec for 2000 used the 32 stock.

FWIW, the 98-99 SVT, 95-00 non-SVT, and Taurus 3L Duratecs all use the 32 plug stock. I haven't specifically checked the Escape Duratec, or the Lincoln and Jag 3L Duratecs, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case for them as well.

PA, thanks for the input. Don't know what's up w/ the link...guess I'll erase it. I haven't checked my plugs yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if I had the 32s in my engine.
Fordpartsonline sells the plugs for something like $4.00 a plug...anybody know of a better place to find 'em?
