Anyone else have worse preformance when they installed a k&n filter in their SVT? gimmie your feedback.

No, I did not have a decrease in power when I installed my K&N air filter. But I certainly didnt get a boost in power from it either.

did you guys notice a change in mpg though? i had one on my escort gt 1.8l dohc and i actually notice a tid bit more power, but gas milege showed most improvement.


imports suck, got ford?

I think you feel like there is more power, but it's probably just the different noise. I figured it's a little better than stock, and I'll never have to pay for a Ford paper filter for 15 bucks for the life of the car.

I have them in my tour and explorer.I look at it this way.
1.It flows more air than stock(paper)
2.There probally is more improvement(it moves more air)
and 3.The best thing it's reusable!!

Hancook winter tires
on Focus wheels.

1999 Ford Explorer XLT,Gray cloth power lumbar,rear a/c and radio,AWD.
K&N filter,Edelbrock IAS shocks,and Backcountry step bars.

Mobil One used in both!

K&N's are good air filters but unless you are running a very big motor you wont gain much power. I listened to the comercial and in their test there was a gain of 23 hp or something like that at 900 cfm. Thats a ton of airflow. I dont know what the svt pulls in but I dont think its close to that.
