Does anyone know who the OEM supplier of camshaft blanks is for the Duratec engines? Or does ford produce their own cam shaft blanks and also grind them?

I figure if there is a company that makes the blanks for Ford, then anyone would also be able to order these blanks as well. If you know of where to look for OEM Auto Suppliers then post that as well. If I cant find out before SEMA, then I will just have to ask the Ford reps at SEMA and also ask around the OEM supplier section.

Not 'blanks' they are coposite camshafts...built in bits then a mandrel pulled thru the center to expand and hold the parts on, company is Presta, dont bother, they are not allowed to sell parts as Ford owns the tooling...... wink

what is the next route? Have you done any work Terry to get more aggressive cams offered for the Duratec V6 line of engines?

Have a machinist cut you a blank out of billet then send it to a cam co. to have it ground.

I guess what I am looking for is advice on what the process would be to offer aftermarket cams for the Duratec V6.

Crower said they could make cams, but they want me to front the $8000 for the tooling required to make the "blanks" and then each grind after that is relativley cheap per cam.

Can I take a company like Crower one of our cams and have them make blanks off of that? These new cams wont be hollow I assume. Are there any drawbacks to not using hollow cams on the Duratec engine?

If the reports I have read about the Mustang eventually getting the 3.0L V6 Duratec as an engine option, then I can see the cam market taking off for us (and just about every other engine internal we can think of). but who wants to wait until 2004 MY for that to happen?
