Well.. I made the mistake of using other resources to get my questions answered and find a nice aftermarket clutch kit for my car... it's taking way too long. I've been waiting for answers for two weeks already.

Anyway, what I wanna know is...:

1. What's the best aftermarket clutch for what is currently only minimally modified SVT Contour?

2. When the clutch "goes out" (ie. slips quite a bit), can you replace the disc by itself or do you need the whole kit?

Thanks,
.RMk..

Aftermarket clutches are a 'personal' thing, no 'one size fits all'.Drive as many 'types' as you can before you make a choice. Its false economy to change one part of the assy and chances are if the clutch is slipping both the flywheel & cover plate are burnt. To do it right a full assy with release bearing is needed and the flywheel resurfaced if its burt. Not worth the cost of pulling the engine & trans to change part of the assy and pull it again a few months down the road...

Sounds about right... but I'm not picky as far as chatter and what-not goes. I want a clutch that's not going to "let go" as I add more bolt-ons. I do like quick engagement/disengagement at a minimum of pedal travel, but that's the only place I'd have a preference. laugh

Thanks. Helps to know I'm not wasting money buying a clutch kit.
