i have to get my cat fixed soon (sulfur smell on hard accel), and the car only has 43000 miles on it. I bought the car from some small local used car dealership, but will any ford dealer still honor the exuast warranty and fix the broken cat for freeeeeeeee?

They should. As long as you haven't done anything to mess with it, most of the standard warranties are transferable.

Is there still a federal emissions coverage requirement to the 50K mark? If so, cat ought to be covered under that (as would just about any emissions-related component that craps out before then).
