I just want to beef up the final drive can you give me the part numbers you use and where I can get them.

Has anyone made progress on beefier gears? I know the World Challenge guys running the MTX-75 were stripping the teath on the gears because they had so much power. they didnt have issues with the synchros.....

When speaking to Leo Capaldi, he said his gears cost him around $5000. Unless these gears are made differently than most other aftermarket car parts (CNC Machined) then wouldnt it cost less to have those same gears just duplicated again by the same CNC machine? Like most other things, wouldnt price come down with volume, economies of scale???? or no....?

I would imagine most of the cost is in making the first part (I know it is) and now that the machine has the specs of the parts in its memory, all you have to do is punch in how many copies you want, like a paper copy machine. Tell me if I am wayyyy off here or not.....

Thats why we have a group buy on the 4.50 final drive gears, a one off set is over $1000, but with qty we can get the price down and from the same shop who cuts Leo's gears...

A one off set of complete gears for the MTX-75 that are the same strength as the ones Capaldi is using? for only $1000? Even that is a steal, any less than that and it is even better.

.....'final drive gears'....crown wheel & pinion, not 1st,2nd etc .......

If you've got $5-7000 dollars (parts only) you can get a full quaife dog or synchro kit with choice of final drive and LSD. Um, ouch ! That's more than most of the 'tours on this boards resale value!

Ahhhhhh...... So to get a full complete set of high strength "Capaldi" spec gears will still cost upwards of $5000? That doesnt make sense to me. I can see if these things were hand ground using a dremel and took 100 hours of labor to make. but if a CNC machine makes them, you punch in the program and walk away. Again, if i am WAYYYYY off here, let me know.

Anyways.....So what will solve the gear shredding problem for those people who want/plan/have 300-400hp Duratecs? granted no one has run into that problem, and maybe they never will. But isnt is something we have to be concerned with? I have seen the teath on the mtx-75 gears, and they are puny......
