Well, I have all my fuel injectors out and I have a question. Is there any way to clean and test the injectors while they are off the car? I'm asking this because my car had read a cylinder 6 missfire and it was running lean. I wanted to check and make sure that the cylinder 6 injector was bad and make sure that it is also not cylinder 2. I would rather not spend more money than I have to (also considering that I dropped one of the injectors and broke the little plastic ring at the end of it. So that one has to be replaced as well).

Well I hope that all made sense. If not, feel free to ask questions.

An ultrasonic cleaner is the way to go. Most school labs will have them. I don't know what "cheap and safe" solvent you can use. Maybe water. But then you need to dry the injectors real well before putting it back in. Some shops start off with a weak solution of Simple Green before putting in the ultrasonic cleaner.

What I really need to do is test them. Are there any ways to do that?

Out of the engine, no cheap way. Need to send in to a specialized shop. Not sure how much.

In the engine, you can use a real time scanner ($100 to $200). Or put the brand new one in No. 6 position and see if you get the same code. If you do, then probably No. 2 is broken. Confirm by putting old No. 6 injector in No. 2 position.

That is what I was thinking of doing. But wouldn't that require me to get new gaskets again?

No. You won't have used the manifold gaskets long enough to cause it to wear down. Some CEGers have opened the manifolds a few times to check for injector issues and/or other issues. Just torque the bolts to specifications and you should be fine.
