Question...I did a search...and really couldn't get a solid opinion off the posts. I have an AFE filter (drop-in) that I like a lot (see previous post). The rubber boot in the fenderwall seems ill conceived. Have you guys ditched it? Yeah..of course with the KKM or BAT you have. But anyone using a high-flow unit and still retaining it?
If you take a look in that boot into the fender, it's really not all that restrictive...I would say not restrictive. When I was using a K&N drop in, I kept it in there. HTH

The fender boot is not very restrictive "especially" when looking at the tiny inlet hole of the stock SVT airbox!

Yes; the SVT boot has been taken out by people for various reasons. A particularly good one is adding a cold air draw hose from the front air dam. However do not attach this hose to the end of the stock airbox. That's just making it a "longer straw" and can also manifest stalling problems.
