For example, in the movie "Clerks" the guys working the stores, Dante and Randal, had to act a certain way as their contractual obligations as quickstop employees. They had to act a certain way while on the job in order to maintain a certain level of comfort for the customers. in which case, as the their job title is a "Clerk" they have to behave in a different manner then they normally would in regular day life. Where as, in some exceptions some people dont follow the "title dictates behavior" rule and act however the [censored] they want at work. Like construction workers, they dont get in trouble for swearing or telling gross joke, or wearing different clothing, they just do their job and be themselves in the process..

I don't think it is the title itself, but basic professionalism when you deal with the public

Then how about another example... another way we can look at title is through ethnicity or even sexual preference... For example: Common stereo types of an asain man would be "good at math" or of a caucasian would be "super lame" do you believe that since we have learned this in society, that people subconciously think they have to act this way, that since everybody else like them around them act that way they have to as well? So maybe... Group Confomity has something to do with this.

Well I believe in doing the job. At my job, I'll cuss like a sailor and mess around with co workers but when dealing with a customer I'm nice and polite and junk. You just do whatever you gotta do to do the job you do.

Of course there is some group conformity everywhere.... but like I have a buddy that is black and he hangs out with mainly white people. So it doesn't follow that title stuff you're talking about. And although I'm a super lame caucasion, I know many that aren't.

I think the behavior has to do with the demands of the task rather than some sort of stereotype attached to the name.
Whether you call them clerks, sales associates, team members, or "the [rectum] behind the counter"... certain behavior is expected of the job, regardless of the title you give it.
