hi guys, i thought id post this here, to see if anyone out there could help... i have a mondeo st24, with a powerflow s/s twin exit exhaust (cat back) blitz filter, svt throttle body & unichip. however today when i got it rolling roaded today, i was VERY disapointed with the results...
flywheel=175.7bhp wheels = 138.2bhp torque = 170.7lb ft.
as standard from ford the engine is supposed to be
flywheel=170bhp
the mods i have done including fitting the unichip i was expecting to get around 190+ flywheel and around 160@wheels... the tuner says my powerloss is because of my exhaust only being 2" in diameter, and says i should have at least 2.5" pipe on it, and i shouldnt have it dual exit. does anyone agree with this? tuner says my engine is okay, and my intake is okay, (cleaned secondaries at the weekend, and fitted svt tb, and fitted extra induction pipe)
is there anything else that could be giving me the power loss ? could this be due to the exhaust? i only worry because cars with less mods than mine get a lot more bhp! ie, st24 with blitz & just a svt Tb gets 158@wheels!!! mine is only getting 138!
someone help!

Is your chip programmed right?, and duals aren't bad.

The Blitz intake could be hurting you. Try different intake.

How long since your intakes were cleaned? If never, and car has some miles on it,this might be a possible problem.

ahh... some feedback! cleaned the intakes/secondaries on saturday, intake isnt the issue, tuner said my engine was sweet (73k) he just said about the exhaust.. is it possible for me to lose this much because of the exhaust? i currently have a 2" dual exit. he said it should be 2.5".

can you post your dyno sheet? that seems like a hella lot of tourque compared to FWHP, 2" exhaust shouldent be hurting you to the tune of 10-15 fwhp Q - is your exhaust true duals from the manifolds back or just quasi dual?>

Hi Adz- the standard ST24 exhaust is 2.25" diameter, so your's smaller than standard,that certainly wouldn't help your power output.... Don't go too large though, I noticed someone on fordmondeo.org suggested 3" diameter . Have a look at what size other people on here are using- 2.5" would be plenty big enough, any larger and you run the risk of slowing exhaust velocity and making things worse. Personally I'm sticking with 2.25" and getting low restriction mufflers to replace the factory ones.
