I just got my headers installed. It is easily
the biggest performance boosting mod that I have
gotten....for straight away speed....I had the
biggest smile on my face when I first drove it....
can't wait until I get to the track!

I don't think the MSDS headers are worth the money. I'go bang for the buck...gut the precats, forget the y pipe and do true duals. If you get an aftermarket y, insulate it around the oil pan...if you look at the stock y pipe, there's a heat shield on it. It's vry close to hte oil pan and very hot, no shielding = hotter oil. Hot oil = blown engine.

Now I have 2 distinct opinions about the same product. DanCanuk has them and LOVES them, TGO doesnt own any aftermarket headers and doesnt think they are worth the money. TGO, how can you judge them without knowing how they perform???

One of the things I learned back in the 5.0 days, exhaust flow does NOT like a big open chamber that necks back down to a pipe. (ie. a cat housing punched out)The exhaust looses its flow velocity once it enters that chamber. Id have to say a set of headers with the proper Y pipe would certainly outpower a stock system with gutted cats everywhere.

Hey Dan, where did you get your header/Y-pipe setup from?? Thanks again!

Gut the precats, not the main cat.

I'm not bashing their performance or anything...but for the money you will spend...I think it would be more practical just to gut the pre cats and do a nice exhaust setup. You're always going to get varying opinions, that is mine.

It all depends on your budget. When I saw the stock
manifolds with the precat things, I knew I should
have dealt with them first before anything else but I was already at the stage of installing the headers... This
car is my project and the mods will never end , especially as the 'wear' items come due for replacement.

I'm in Canada, so I got my headers thru Chris of
CTA in Ontario but if you are in the US, you can
order directly from MSDS.
