Hi,
This morning when i went to start my car all i got was a click and the dash lights flickered and dimmed a bit. It wasnt the usual try to start and the battery dies sort of start, then i tried to start it again and the wipers did one swipe. If I leave the ignition on some of the lights stay on and others flicker on and off. I think that my alternator is on its way out, would this have anything to do with it?
Any ideas would be great.

did you try to start the car with a charger plug on it ?

Sounds like your battery is drained. If your alternator is on its way out, then it makes sense. Try boosting it / charging it. If your alternator is the culprit, it should at least start with the booster cables attached.

ya, if you boost it and it starts, you should at least see your alternator light come on sparasly or sparatically depending on your situation. The alternators go about once or twice on these cars so who knows, it could be that. If it is, it's an expensive LABOUR charge replacement, there is a how-to on the site if you need...

I got a boost this morning and it will stay running as long as the cables are attached, once the cables are taken off it dies.

Unless your battery is toast.. you can charge it.. what I did when my alternator crapped out on me.. I let the car get charged for like 15 minutes (off) then got a boost and drove it home.. if your battery is totally dead it would need a few minutes to get some what of a charge.. or at least thats what happened to me .. hope all goes well

Turns out there was a short in the battery. My mechanic tested the alt and it was reading 14. Good news is my battery was under warranty and i didnt have to pay a dime.
