To begin, I thought I needed a tune up because my car (95 contour GL 2.0 auto) was jumping noticeably from 1st to 2nd and from park to drive. Well, I had it tuned up with new plugs and wires, and that didnt solve the problem with the jumping, but I think I found a new one.

I found a good amount of oil in 3 of the 4 plugs. I was told this was not normal, and could lead to bigger problems. I was also told to get rid of the car and start searching for a new one.

What you yall think the problem is, how much it would cost to fix, and what should I do?

Thanks for any tips and help.

Change the TSS sensor for the trans.....that should fix the jumping problem. Search this forum it have been discussed many times.

As far as the oil on the plugs....change the valve cover gasket. That should fix that.

How much you reckon itll cost for fix the both of those? I see the cover is about $20, and the speed sensor is about $50 to $60(USD). Thanks for the quick response.

Order your parts from Bill Jenkins, should cut that cost down a little bit, ask for the CEG discount, sometimes if you order from Steve Mullins you can get a bigger discount.

What joke? I must have missed a few deleted posts from this thread.

Not sure who has paid a dealer to change the TSS but it can't be more than 1.5 hours ($150). Add the part cost and you know how much total cost is.

Also change ATFluid if it hasn't been changed in 2 years/24k miles (dealer price drain and refill $70, flush =$150).

ATFluid change (do it yourself 3x drain and refill $30, thanks to starjammir)

In addition, not sure who has paid a dealer to change a valve cover gasket. I can't even guess how many hours that would take. Maybe someone with a Labor guide can chime in.
