Hey guys, I tested my heatshield today. I ran the car for 5 minutes, opened the hood, placed one thermometer by the filter, and one ontop of the intake manifold. I shut the hood and waited for about 8 minutes, and here are my results:
outside temp- 86 degrees F
by the filter- 105 degrees F
in the engine compartment- 140+ F(1st thermometer
only went to 120)-i then placed the other thermometer in the engine bay to get a higher reading, and it maxed that thermometer out at 140F
Here are the pics to prove it
note*-my heatshield looks like crap!!! i had to do it very quickly
It works very well now. Before my heatshield was just a piece of sheet metal, and the engine seemed to bog out unless it was really cool outside. With the new insulated heatshield, it feels like i again have a sealed air box around my filter. It pulls very hard through all rpm's even when it is very hot outside. I couldn't believe the difference I noticed. Before I had the heatshield, I don't think I had a hp gain at all over the stock intake, now I'm sure its a lot better!
