I am having problems with my 'tour. It idles rough and seems like it wants to die and it has no power whatsoever. Someone said the cat may be stopped up and someone else said it's the timing belt. I guess my ?? is is there anyway to tell if it's the converter or not? I guess I should have mentioned it's a 2.0 DOHC.

How many miles? Any CEL codes?
Do the el cheapo catalytic converter test for the Zetec 2.0 DOHC 4 cylinder
1) Disconnect negative terminal battery (note you will lose all CEL codes stored in the PCM memory)
2) Disconnect Upper O2 sensor connector
3) Remove Upper O2 sensor (use 7/8 inch or 22 mm crescent wrench or O2 sensor removal tool).
4) Reconect battery and drive.
What you are doing is give the exhaust an outlet. If car performs better, you probably have a plugged catalytic converter.

The only code we got was a timing belt position sensor so we replaced it but it didn't help at all. I highly suspect I've got a btiming issue but all of the pros around here are saying cat, I'll try the 'el cheapo' test though just to make sure.
Did any of those "pros" hook up a vacuum guage to the intake?
