So I moved up here to Edmonton to this new job having heard all orts of great things about the company. I started, I learned very quickly that training is not something that they really offer you. More like a brief explanation of how the panel on the machine should be labeled (the labels have long since fallen off the machines, they are older than I am)
That was fine, I am afterall from the Nintendo generation, I acn figure this [censored] out. No problem. Two weeks passes by, paychecks come out, except for mine... hmmm... not a good thing. Finally a month and two days after I started, I got paid for my first three weeks... yay I can pay my bills. Good thing they are offering unlimited overtime I think to myself.
Flash to last night. Boss sits us down and informs us that
A)They are disolving one entire crew into the other three, making three huge crews instead of four smaller crews.
B)Since the three remaining crews are now too large, no overtime, and all productivity will be closely watched to determine who gets laid off.
Without overtime, I am now making less than I was 2 years ago. and two years ago gas wasn't $1.30 a liter. My bi-weekly trip back home to visit my family and friends cost me $400 a month. Even if I don't ever make the trip again, I'm out over $400 each month compared to when I lived in Saskatoon and worked at Wal-Mart.
Basically I have no other real choice than to leave the job and run home with my tail between my legs. Finding othe employment is not a concern for me, I have plenty of options, I just really hate leaving a job.
