Good afternoon all;

Seem that I have some kind of intermittent blower â??blockageâ? happening. I can hear the blower running, but the flow out of the ducts is very low. Thereâ??s also a kind of â??deep-hollowâ? blowing sound (sorry, thatâ??s the best I could do!)

It happened over the last winter once or twice, but fixed itself. Itâ??s been fine since, but has happened three times in the past few weeks...when I needed that AC going badly! The flow eventually returns after 5-10 minutes.

I tried all the different blower settings, including MAX A/C and it didnâ??t make a difference. You can hear the â??port-doorsâ? opening/closing as I change the blower settings from floor->panel->a/c..etc.

Cabin filter is ok btw...

Any ideas?

thanks!

Nope, same as vent. All settings only give very little flow...

Turn the knob for the blower speed. Do you hear the blower speed change? If you don't, then the blower switch could be on its way out (and only low speed works).

What year and how many km on the car? There is a Customer Satisfaction Extended Warranty for some years for the switch issue.

Edit.
01M07 Extended Coverage Program 10 years/150k miles.

The blower speed works fine. It just seems like it gets blocked by something onces in a while. (the flow always comes back after 5-10 minutes)

'98 with 190,000 kms.

I didn't mention this before as it may just be my wife's imagination, but she insisted that she smelled smoke during one episode. (I didn't smell anything...)

You might just have to wait until it goes completely. As for the smell, blower resistor might be on the way out, but that would send it to high speed all the time.

UPDATE:

The WATER PUMP quit today for my wife while on the highway. The heat gage was well PAST the dreaded RED line before she was able to safley exit the highway...and when she did, the car stalled. (It then started to smoke and leak antifreeze)

And hour and a half later when I got there, I could still feel the heat radiating from the thing. The coolant leak was just the overflow doing it's job...nothing bursted.

The water pump is shot.

I was able to start the car without a problem...BUT the heat gauge stayed WAY past the red line. (It's stuck)

SO, my NEW now question is. How likely is it now that the head gasket is going to go now too? Maybe it already has? I was able to drive it for 1 minute to a "safe spot" without a problem. Every thing seemed fine.

This can't be related to my vent problem...can it?

Should I post this in a new forum topic?
