trans prob. shifts in reverse smooth but when i put it in drive there is a pause and goes into gear hard. maybe a sensor? 115,000 miles duratec v6 dohc automatic tranny

Delayed then harsh shift is most likely an internal failure.

By definition, it will be expensive.
