Recently, when I start my car it's been sitting for a few hours or over night, I get this VERY loud groaning/honking noise and even more recently, it's starting to stall once-in-a-while unless I give it a bit of gas.

Is it a power steering problem? I have no problem when the car is warm.

Don't think it's the moose.

Never happens again after it stops.

Sounds like moosing due to a sticky IAC valve.

Try cleaning the valve and resetting idle. If that doesn't get it, install the TH fix and be prepared to replace the IAC valve with the updated Ford unit.

Will a sticky IAC valve cause the sound to fluctuate as the steering wheel is moved? Sometimes, when cold, if I move the steering a wheel a certain direction and it'll make the noise. However, when it makes the noise in the morning on startup and I turn the steering wheel, I can get the noise to stop.

Moose or low power steering fluid will give that symptom.
